Our kitchen is led by head chef Marc Kaalund who draws his inspiration partly from classic French cuisine in combination with Nordic cuisine. We have a dogma-free kitchen with a focus on using the seasons as a guide, using local ingredients of the highest quality.

About us
Fru Larsen Hotel and Restaurant is a little gem in a scenic area of East Jutland in the small village of Laurbjerg between Aarhus and Randers. Since October 2021, we, Karina Kannegaard and Christian Neve, have been renting the place. We come with extensive experience from the restaurant industry, where we have both worked in some of the country’s best restaurants. We are both lucky enough to have been voted Denmark’s best waiter, which we take great pride in.
Our ambition is to keep the high gastronomic level that Fru Larsen is known for, while at the same time giving the place our own touch. We don’t work according to a lot of dogma. On the other hand, we serve food made from good local ingredients, just the way we like them. Marc Kaalund and his team run the kitchen while we take care of the guests in the restaurant. We want to give guests a personal and homely experience, where all you have to think about is relaxing and just enjoying each other and the food. This is how we like it best when we go out to eat.

You will find Fru Larsen in a scenic area of East Jutland in the small town of Laurbjerg, which is located between Aarhus and Randers. A visit to Fru Larsen is an experience in an informal setting, where presence and service are paramount. We offer gourmet stays where you get the full experience of Fru Larsen. You won’t have to worry about who’s driving home and there will be more time to just be with each other. You can go for a walk in our scenic local area, play board games either in your room or in our cozy common areas, enjoy a glass of wine on our terrace, a cup of coffee in our lounge, or maybe try some of the various delicious cocktails from our drink menu.
You can also enjoy a gourmet dinner with us, where good hospitality and tasty cuisine without dogma are paramount. We focus on using seasonal ingredients, preferably as local as possible, without being tied to a particular type of cuisine. We always offer a drinks menu that is perfectly matched to the dishes. Here we present both our wine selection and a non-alcoholic alternative for each dish, allowing you to choose whatever you like with each course. Our choice of wines is not dogmatic either, however, we like to work with European wines and are constantly on the lookout for small, exciting producers who make excellent wines grown as gently as possible.
We have a large wine list that you can dive into if you want to choose your own wine instead. If you’re driving home or don’t drink alcohol, we also offer a juice menu that we’ve put a lot of love into, with a mix of juices and kombucha respectively.
Last but not least, it is also possible to enjoy our lunch, which we serve every Friday and Saturday. Here we serve up lots of homemade treats.
Including home-smoked salmon, homemade rolled sausage, home-baked bread and much more. For this, we have a wide variety of homemade schnapps that are perfect for lunch.
